Joan Adams, 77, Zinn’s hostess

Joan L. Adams, 77, of Ephrata, entered into rest at Lancaster General Hospital Tuesday, March 29, 2011.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Esther (Gaul) Ruffner. She was the wife of the late Carl Adams, who passed away in 1999.

Joan had worked at the Dutch Maid sewing factory in Ephrata prior to working at Zinn’s Diner in Denver as a hostess.

Joan was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ephrata and the Friendly Circle in Lincoln. She enjoyed the mountains, spring time weather, going out to eat and sitting on her porch. She also enjoyed playing bingo and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by three children: Barry L., husband of Jean (Bowman) Ruffner, of Reinholds; Michael E. Adams, of Akron; and Donna M., wife of Brian Van Scyoc, of Akron; four grandchildren: Brandon, husband of Brianne Adams; Natalie, wife of Michael Colletti; Katie; and Corey Van Scyoc; three great-grandchildren: Kolton and Keeli Adams; and Kyra Hartman; her sister: Carol Levan; and her niece: Pamela Levan, both of Lancaster.

Funeral services were held April 4 at Stradling Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter S. Carter officiating. Interment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
