Joan Maxwell, Seamstress for Doneckers, American Music Theatre, Showcase of Fashion

Joan Maxwell was born on June 5, 1931, and entered rest peacefully Feb. 15, 2016. Her only daughter: Joan; and granddaughter: Hannah, the sunshine of her life for the last 19 years, were at her bedside when she passed.

Her father: Gerome L.; and mother: Mary E. Maxwell; and ex-husband: Neil J. Condon; as well as several cousins predeceased her.

For years in Lancaster she was a most skilled seamstress to Lancaster’s most elite residents, The American Music Theatre, and the Showcase of Fashion. Joan was last employed as a seamstress for Doneckers. She enjoyed her family, sewing, and conversing with others.

She is survived by her sons; Edward Condon of Allentown; William Condon of Middletown, Del.; Timothy and Bruce Condon of Lancaster County; James Condon of Hamilton, N.J.; and her only daughter: Joan, wife of Stephen Carney, of Denver; 12 grandchildren: Hannah Carney, Darren Carney, Melissa Condon, Jimmy Condon, Rob Condon, Sharonda Condon, Sean Condon, Dave Condon, Jon Condon, Sarah Condon, Jen Condon, and Steve Condon; six great-grandchildren, and four cousins.

There will be a celebration of her life at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110; or to Lancaster County BH/DS, 150 N. Queen St., Suite 610, Lancaster, PA 17603.
