John Brientnall, 101, professional engineer at AC Wood, enjoyed music, Phils fan

John Brientnall, 101, of Newtown, passed away on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Chandler Hall Health Services.

He was born in Lancaster to the late William and Martha (Good) Brientnall.

He was a member of New Life Christian Church.

John was a direct descendant of David Brientnall, of the Quaker Colony that settled in Philadelphia in 1682, and whose marriage is recorded in the Arch Street Meeting House in Philadelphia as being the third on record of that colony.

He was a graduate of Chester High School and Drexel University. He was a professional engineer who retired from AC Wood Associates. John enjoyed the Philadelphia Phillies, bowling, gardening, traveling, music, and spending time with his family.

John is survived by his three children: John Brientnall Jr.; Gilbert, husband of Mary Brientnall; Christine, wife of Gary Lee; a sister: Jeanne Reischer; seven grandchildren: Susan, Mark, John, Thomas, Kara, Noelle, and Craig; 12 great-grandchildren; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Viola (Riley) Brientnall; two brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society-Lancaster County Unit, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA, 17603.
