John F. McIntyre, 71, Leola, Vietnam vet, real estate appraiser, Lions District Governor

John F. McIntyre, 71, of Leola, passed away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Hackensack, N.J. to the late John and Emma (Jacobus) McIntyre and was the husband of Linda (Krone) McIntyre with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. He had resided in Pennsylvania for the past 16 years.

John was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Lancaster. He was very proud to be a Lion and served as a District Governor Lion District 14-D from 2005-2006 and was a member of the Manheim Township Lions Club. John is the recipient of a Melvin Jones Fellow, Pennsylvania Fellow, and the Joseph Wrobleski Award. John had worked as a real estate appraiser and mortgage lender in New Jersey and Lancaster County. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Jodi-Lyn McIntyre and Jeanne E., wife of Sal LaFerlita; two grandchildren: Gabriella and Anthony; a brother: Bob, husband of Peggy McIntyre; two sisters: Dawn, wife of John Hoffman, and Gayle, wife of George Wieger; three nieces; and a nephew.

A visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. Ninth St., Akron, with a memorial service at 8 p.m., with Pastor Jillian Riddle officiating.
