John J. Taylor, 70, West Chester University chief accountant, avid Philly sports fan

John J. Taylor, 70, of Ephrata, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Philadelphia to the late John Taylor and Agnes Bradley, and was the stepson to the late Bill Hopkins. He was the husband of Carol (Amoroso) Taylor, with whom he enjoyed 46 years of marriage.

John worked as a chief accountant for West Chester University. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, enjoyed golfing, loved his family, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Christian, husband of Andrea Taylor, of New Holland; Sean, husband of Elise Taylor, of Manalapan, N.J.; seven grandchildren: Sean Jr., Simon, Renae, Olivia, Emma, Eloise, and Ryan; a brother: Bill Jr., husband of Nancy Hopkins, of Williamstown, N.J.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Cecilia Ferrara and Rose Landau.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Friday, June 10, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Ave., Ephrata, with Father John McLoughlin C.SS.R. as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
