John Michael Sweeney, 67, of Ephrata, formerly of New York City, N.Y., passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Blackstock, S.C. to the late Thomas Bradley and Katherine (Mobley) Sweeney and was the husband of Catherine M. (Hurd) Sweeney.

John was the owner and operator of Sweeney & Associates, an architectural firm in New York City. He loved music, playing the guitar and built his own music studio. He also enjoyed motorcycle racing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Chloe Sweeney, wife of Matt McGlade; Sarah Sweeney and Quinn, wife of Tim Cassidy and two granddaughters: Sadie and Lyla.

A viewing will be held Feb. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stradling Funeral Homes, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata. Interment will take place Feb.22 in the Hopewell Cemetery, Blackstock, S.C.
