Joyce Marie (Witman) Steffy, 68, of Great Falls, Mont., formerly of East Earl, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Jan. 23, 2017.

She was the wife of Richard D. Steffy of Great Falls. They would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on March 28. Born Dec. 15, 1948, she was the oldest daughter of the late John “Pin” Witman and the late Loretta J. (Kohl) Witman of New Holland.

Joyce devoted her life to public service. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for 30 years. She started her nursing career at Ephrata Community Hospital, worked the majority of her time at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center in Narvon, then retired from nursing while working for Garden Spot Village assisted living in New Holland. She also served her community as a volunteer EMT for the Fivepointville Ambulance Association for many years.

She was a CPR instructor and worked for Child Protect for Lancaster General Hospital, in Lancaster. After retiring from nursing, she followed her grandchildren to live in Montana, first in Helena, and then in Great Falls. There Joyce continued her public service by volunteering at the Great Falls Rescue Mission, and then later working as a lunch lady at Morningside Elementary.

As a born-again believer in Christ, she had a heart and passion serving the Lord wherever she was needed. Teaching children’s Sunday school and kids church, and volunteering for youth camps; she had a heart for children. Over the later years, she was affectionately known by many kiddos as “Grandma.”

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son: Donald E. Steffy, married to Marcy (Bridegam) Steffy, of Great Falls, Mont.; three brothers: Leroy Witman, husband of Deidre Witman, of New Market, N.H.; John Witman of New Holland; and Michael Witman of New Holland; and one sister: Nora J. Witman of Manheim. She is also survived by five grandchildren, whom she loved and adored.

A celebration of life was held Jan. 28 at Vintage Faith Church, Great Falls, Mont.

In lieu of flowers, at the request of the family, contributions can be made to the North Central Region Church of God Youth Camp Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 7460, Bismarck, ND 58507.
