Katherine M. Stoye, 93, NY comptometer operator, loved traveling and the beach

Katherine M. Stoye, 93, of Denver, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Otto and Helen (Mykitin) Streib. Katherine’s husband of 56 years, Carl O. Stoye, died in 2005.

Surviving Katherine is her daughter: Carleen, wife of Thomas Shea, of Lititz; and their sons: Eric Shea, husband of Jayme Shea, of Camp Hill; and Matthew Shea of Baltimore, Md.

She graduated from the former Girls High School in Brooklyn and was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Affectionately known to her family as “Baba,” she worked for various companies throughout Brooklyn and Long Island, N.Y., as a comptometer operator. Upon retirement, she and Carl relocated to the Denver area from Long Island to be closer to her grandchildren. She loved the beach and traveling with her beloved husband Carl.

Baba will forever be remembered for her love of family.

Katherine’s funeral service was held Jan. 9 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, Lititz. Interment was in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
