Katie S. Weaver, 90, mother of six, Groffdale Mennonite Church member

Katie S. Weaver, 90, of Leola, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at home.

She was born in Earl Township to the late J. Eby and Mary S. (Shirk) Snyder, and was the wife of the late Norman H. Weaver, who passed away 2016.

A homemaker, she was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).

Katie is survived by five children: Clarence S., husband of Mary Ellen (Burkholder) Weaver of Martinsburg; Edna S., wife of George Martin of Lewisburg; Ruth S., wife of Isaac Reiff of Mifflinburg; Ellen S., wife of Aaron Zimmerman of Leola; Irene S., wife of Harvey Oberholtzer of Leola; a son-in-law: Elvin, husband of Nora (Burkholder) Oberholtzer of Shippensburg; 29 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Lena, wife of Reuben Martin of Ephrata; Paul Snyder of New Holland; Esther, wife of Rufus Zimmerman of Mertztown; and Mabel, wife of Elam Horning of Leola.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Vera S. Oberholtzer; three grandchildren; and five siblings: Anna Zimmerman, Edna Shirk, Norman Snyder, Aaron Snyder and Mary Newswenger.

Her funeral was held Oct. 17 at Groffdale Mennonite Church, Leola, with Bishop Ammon Weaver officiating. Interment took place in the adjoining cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
