Leon H. Shupp, 73, Denver, Christian, family man, business man

Leon H. Shupp, 73, of Denver, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, April 27, 2015, at his home.

Born in Brecknock Township, he was the son of the late Elmer S. and Elsie L. (Kinzer) Shupp. He was the husband of Judith A. (Gehret) Shupp, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Leon was a 1960 graduate of Cocalico High School. He attended the Pennsylvania State University and completed his apprenticeship at the Textile Machine Works. As founder and owner of L-J Tool and Manufacturing Inc. since 1973, Leon’s skill and integrity were valued by customers and associates.

His faith inspired him to serve in various church roles. He was president of Berks County Christian Endeavor Union; actively served in many capacities at West Wyomissing Chapel for 32 years, and then as a member of Christian Fellowship Church in New Holland.

Leon was a hard-working family man who enjoyed gardening, camping, and a bowl of good ice cream.

In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by seven children: Dennis L. (Susan) Shupp of Reading, Dianne M. Shupp of Denver, Lila L. Strause (Martin Hirschhorn) of New Jersey, David A. (Diane) Shupp of Reinholds, Robert F. (Nicola) Strause of Wernersville, Heather M. Johnson of Lancaster, David M. Strause of Denver; 11 grandchildren; a brother: Warren E. (Nina) Shupp; two sisters: Fern E. Welker, and Miriam R. (Robert) Angstadt.

The funeral was held May 4 at Christian Fellowship Church, New Holland. Interment followed at Pleasant View Cemetery, Fritztown.
