Leslie M. ‘Les’ Sweigart, 71, Vietnam vet, Ames & Ewells driver, enjoyed sailing, western movie buff

Leslie M. “Les” Sweigart, 71, Mohnton, passed this world on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, due to complications from a fall.

He was the husband and best friend of Louise A. (Good) Sweigart for 28 years. Born in Reamstown, he was a son of Pauline K. (Buohl) Sweigart, Denver, and the late Alton W. Sweigart.

Les was a truck driver for Ames and Ewells, obtaining one million miles plus. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, sailing with Windjammer buddies, was a western movie buff, and an avid USA patriot. Les was Vietnam War Air Force veteran, and a member of Reinholds VFW, Adamstown Rod and Gun Club, New Holland Legion, and the Fritztown and Gouglersville fire companies.

Also surviving are his sisters: Linda, married to Gary Youndt; and Brenda, married to Brent “Merf” Burkholder; and a brother: Benjamin “Ben,” married to Karin (Garner) Sweigart, all of Denver; sisters-in-law: Deb (Grosteffon) Sweigart, Roseland, Va.; Lorraine (Good), married to Dennis Burkholder; Lori (Good), married to Michael Yohn; Linda (Good), married to Rich Marburger; and mother-in-law: Shirley (Groff) Good.

Brothers: Alton “Jerry” and Gary Sweigart; and father-in-law: Wayne Good, predeceased him.

Graveside services with military honors were held June 21 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Ephrata, with the Rev. Stephen E. Hollinger officiating.
