M. Margaret Gensemer, 89, Hess Foods worker, local registrarfor state division of Vital Records

M. Margaret Gensemer, 89, Denver, died peacefully Nov. 30, 2016 in Ephrata Community Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Born in New Albany, Ind., a daughter of the late Prentice and Mary Ethel (Atwell) Sturgeon, her husband, George Gensemer Jr., died Feb. 24, 1987.

She was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church. Margaret was a longtime employee of Hess Foods, Ephrata, and served as the local registrar for the Pennsylvania Division of Vital Records for more than 20 years. A “grandma” to many, she cherished her family and friends.

Surviving is her son: Michael G. (Brenda G. Becker) Gensemer, Denver; her grandson: Stephen M. (Amy Leininer) Gensemer, Rockville, Md.; and great-grandchildren: Eleanor and Michael.

A brother, William Sturgeon, predeceased her.

Join the family on Friday, Dec. 9, for a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., at Good Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, Reamstown, with a memorial service at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Joseph A. Veres. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Denver.
