Marian S. Markey, 90, raised in Ephrata, celebrated first-grade teacher, inspired many
Marian S. Markey, 90, formerly of Harrisburg, died peacefully June 8, 2017.
Marian was born Marian R. Shaub, and was the only child of Esther I. Shaub, and Milton L. Shaub, who lived near Ephrata.
Marian was a first-grade elementary school teacher in Harrisburg, for nearly 20 years. She was respected by parents, loved by her students, and was celebrated by her fellow teachers and principals of the public school she taught in. She nurtured, she inspired, and she will be missed.
She was married to the Rev. David J. Markey, who died in 2008, and is survived by her four adult children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Mohler Church of the Brethren, 21 E. Mohler Church Road, Ephrata.
