Marilyn J. Waddell, 74, Ephrata, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Scalp Level, Cambria County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Nellie J. (Mickle) Hinton. She was married to Charles D. Waddell for 38 years until his death in 1997.

She was a 1958 graduate of Johnstown High School. Marilyn retired from Sylvin Technologies Inc., Denver, in September 2012, after 30 years as customer service and office manager.

Marilyn attended the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene for more than 40 years and was a member of the Rose of Sharon Sunday School class.

She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She was also an active Facebooker as she enjoyed being technologically savvy.

She is survived by two daughters: Brenda J, wife of Scott D. Macbeth, Columbia; Pennie J. Gutshall, companion of Terrence Burkholder, Denver; five grandchildren: Nicholas, Jessica, Joshua, Katelyn, and Adam; three great-grandchildren: Brooke, Dominic, and Chance.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter: Cindy J. Burkhart; a great-grandchild: Caydance J. Barndt; a brother: Ronald J. Hinton; and a son-in-law: Kenneth S. Gutshall.

A viewing will be held Thursday, April 30, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m., with Rev. Charles Deutsch officiating. Interment will take place in Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
