Mary Alice “Mama Roadkill” Martin, 76, Sinking Spring, formerly of Denver and Ephrata, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Mt. Joy Hospice.

Born in Curwensville, Clearfield County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Dollie A. (Daub) Lippart, Jr. Mary worked for Dutchmaid Motel, Ephrata, where she was known for bread buttering; and Mohnton Knitmill, Inc. She cherished her grandchildren, loved bingo and shopping and traveling with her daughter-in-law, Dianne. Surviving are daughters: Melody (Barry) Wanger, Denver; Brenda (Robert) Zimmerman, Ephrata; Lynda Martin, Reading and Pamela Renz, and her significant other, Steve Martzall, Denver; sons: Glenn “Roadkill” (Dianne Buchter) Martin, Sinking Spring and James Martin, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister: Mona Yellets, Leola; brother: Glenn (Martha Weaver) Lippart, Lititz and former husband: Clarence Martin, Reamstown. Siblings Loretta Eshleman and Marlin “Whitey” Lippart predeceased her.

A celebration of life will be held Jan. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Reamstown Community Center, 23 E. Church St., Reamstown. Rather than flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice & Community Care-IPU Kitchen Fund, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
