Mary R. Yoder, 91, homemaker, Millport Mennonite member, enjoyed time with family

Mary R. Yoder, 91, of Columbia, formerly of Brownstown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Luther Acres, Lititz.

She was born in Belleville to the late Amos and Emma (Peachey) Yoder, and was the wife of the late Newton J. Yoder, who passed in 2009.

She was a member of Millport Mennonite Church. Mary was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, gardening, and reading.

Mary is survived by seven children: Patricia Yoder of Harrisonburg, Va.; Mary, wife of Robert Knepper, of Lancaster; Bob, husband of Marlene Yoder, of Plain City, Ohio; Harold, husband of Jane Yoder, of Elizabethtown; Carol, wife of David Chastain, of Johnson City, Tenn.; Linda, wife of Bruce Webster, of Lancaster; Jerry Yoder of Manheim; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Grace, wife of Paul Glick, of Belleville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Thomas, Solomon and Henry Yoder; and a sister, Katie Hostetler.

A viewing will be held Friday, Sept. 16, from 2 to 3 p.m., at the Millport Mennonite Church, 820 Log Cabin Road, Leola, followed by funeral services at 3 p.m., with Pastor Kerry Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. An additional visitation will be held at the church that evening from 6 to 7 p.m.
