Minnie Wenger, 98, Moyer, Cocalico cafeteria worker

Minnie H. Wenger, 98, of Ephrata, formerly of Reinholds, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in East Petersburg to the late David and Minnie (Hostetter) Yost and was the wife of the late John G. Wenger, who died in 1988.

A lifelong member of Swamp Lutheran Church, Minnie served on the Helping Hands kitchen committee. She worked at Walter W. Moyer in Ephrata for 22 years and she worked in the school cafeterias of the Cocalico School District. Minnie enjoyed playing cards with her sisters, and she also enjoyed puzzles.

She is survived by a daughter: Margaret A., wife of John T. Elser, of Stevens; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; step-children: LaVerne Good, of Ephrata; Betty L., wife of John B. Breidenstine, of Humelstown; and Ellis D., husband of Judy Wenger, of Ephrata; seven step-grandchildren; 13 step- great-grandchildren; sisters: Ruth Eshelman, of Akron; and Louise Bennetch, of Connecticut.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters: Mildred Clay and Marion Lorah; brothers: Noah Yost, David Yost and Elmer Yost; sisters: Kathryn Knauer, Elsie Fasnacht and Irene Ganter; step-grandson: Dale Good and a great-grandson: Shannon Weaver.

Funeral services were held Sept. 5 at the Swamp Lutheran Church, Reinholds, with Rev. Dennis L. Trout officiating. Burial will take place in the Kurtz Cocalico Cemetery in West Cocalico Township.
