Patricia Gourley, EHS grad, Rite Aid employee, avid dog lover, enjoyed holiday hosting

Patricia Gourley passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle against a terminal illness for nearly 20 years. She remained positive in the face of adversity. Her strength and courage will be remembered as examples for those who knew and loved her.

She was born in Ephrata, the daughter of the late George Whetsel and the late Mary (Snader) Whetsel.

She graduated from Ephrata High School, and was a long-time employee in various roles for the Rite Aid Corp. She was an avid dog lover who always had a dog in her house. She loved spending time with her grandkids, and hosting family game nights and holiday meals.

Surviving are three sons: William Gourley, husband of Kathy Gourley (Levine), of Hummelstown; Chad Gourley of Savannah, Ga. and Michael Gourley of Grantville; six grandchildren; two brothers: Ronald Whetsel of Sumter, S.C.; and George “Butch” Whetsel, of Ephrata; and sister: Kathy Parmer, of Lititz.

Including her parents, also preceding her in death are sister: Sarah Bucher; and brother: Ralph Whetsel.

A memorial service was held Jan. 29 at Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, Harrisburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
