Paul E. Michael, 78, Wilbur Chocolate worker, enjoyed competing at Dutch Lanes

Paul E. Michael, 78, of Brownstown, died peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Light Michael. He was the loving husband of Evelyn Landis Leisey Michael, and they observed their 22nd wedding anniversary in November. His first wife was the late Shelby Groff Michael who died in June of 1993.

For more than 35 years Paul worked for Wilbur Chocolate Factory in Lititz. He was a member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim; and attended Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ephrata. He enjoyed golfing, camping, traveling to Rehoboth and Myrtle beaches and rooting for his favorite teams, the Phillies and Eagles. Paul loved competing on the senior bowling league at the Dutch Lanes, Ephrata.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Evelyn, is a son: Doug, husband of Danelle Michael, of Lititz; two daughters: Jodi, wife of Donald Gantz; and Leslie, wife of Fred Raffensperger, all of Manheim; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter: Donna, wife of David Hebert, of Harrisburg, N.C.; a stepson: Bruce, husband of Beverly Leisey, of Stevens; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a brother: Richard, husband of Sue Michael, of Texas; and a sister: Joan Hess of Ephrata.

Preceding him in death is a brother: Raymond Michael Jr.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Paul’s funeral service at Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim, on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Paul’s memory to Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim, PA 17545; or the Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9 Hahnstown Road, Ephrata, PA 17522.
