Paul Rissler, 72, of Leola, self-employed woodworker

Paul M. Rissler, 72, of Leola, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Warwick Township.

He was born in Bareville to the late John and Martha (Martin) Rissler and was the husband of Alta B. (Reiff) Rissler, who were approaching 50 years of marriage in February.

He was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference). Paul was self-employed as a woodworker, for many years prior to retirement.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: James R., husband of Marlene (Weaver), of Mt. Pleasant Mills; Paul Jr., husband of Barbara (Reiff), of Shiloh, Ohio; David R., husband of Charlotte (McCracken), of Manheim; Aaron R., husband of Patricia (Saldanha Magalhaes), of Africa; and Harlan R., husband of Carolyn (Martin), of Reinholds; daughters: Susan R., wife of Lawrence Leid, of Ephrata; and Vera R. Rissler, of Ephrata; a brother: John M., husband of Alice (Fox) Rissler, of Leola; sisters: Bertha, wife of Rufus G. Martin, of Ephrata; and Martha, wife of Eugene Bartsch, of Lebanon; and 32 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Isaac, Martin and Jacob Rissler; and sisters: Edna Horning and Anna Rissler.

Funeral services were held Sept. 10 at his late residence, with further services at the Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference), West Earl Township, with officiating ministry by Bishop Ammon Weaver and ministers James Reiff, John Daniel Sensenig and Amos Nolt. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
