R. Arlene Hill, 86, Denver, OMPH parishioner, Zinn’s Diner hostess, Millersville secretary

R. Arlene Hill, 86, of Denver, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Denver Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in York Springs to the late Lawrence and Florence (Glass) Nessel; and was the wife of Robert N. Hill Sr., with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.

She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Ephrata. She loved music, art, pets, and photography. She had a big heart, loved her family very much and enjoyed writing letters to World War II veterans. Arlene was a graduate of Chambersburg High School. She worked as a secretary for Millersville State Teacher College, a hostess at Zinn’s Diner, a manager at HyLo, and at Wickes Lumber.

In addition to her husband, Arlene is survived by four children: Brian, husband of Traci Hill, of Bird In Hand; Robert N. Jr., husband of Lynn Hill, of Cary, Ill.; Leisa Kilhefner of Ephrata; and Linda, wife of Eric Haim, of South Carolina; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

A viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with Father John McLoughlin, C.SS.R. officiating. Final commendation and farewell will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery in East Cocalico Township.
