R. Romayne Carpenter, 83, Hemmerich, Wendy’s worker, active at her church, gospel concert groupie

R. Romayne Carpenter, 83, Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon, formerly of Reamstown and Ephrata, died Jan. 1, 2018, in Ephrata Community Hospital.
Born in Reamstown, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Florence (Marks) Witmer. Her first husband, Leon R. Buffenmyer, died April 13, 1987; and second husband, Dale E. Carpenter, died July 2, 2010.
Romayne worked at Wendy’s, Ephrata, and Hemmerich Industries, Denver. She was a member of Reamstown Church of God, where she served as a greeter, and on the prayer chain. She enjoyed reading, visiting, shopping, traveling, doll collecting, and was a gospel concert groupie.
Surviving are her children: Karan M. (Dwight N.) Klassen, Denver; Robert Lee (Harriet Payne) Buffenmyer, Lititz; and Rodney L. Buffenmyer, Ephrata; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A son, Ray E. Buffenmyer; and brother, Richard Fry, predeceased her.
Funeral services were held Jan. 6 at Reamstown Church of God, Stevens, with The Rev. Joel R. Hainley officiating. Private burial was in Salem Union Cemetery, Reamstown.
