Ray W. Gehman, 88, dairy farmer, enjoyed collecting tractors, watching hummingbirds

Ray W. Gehman, 88, of Ulysses, formerly of Stevens, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.

He was born in East Earl Township to the late Taylor P. and Cora S. (Shetzley) Gehman, and was the husband of the late Florence A. (Smith) Gehman, who passed away in 2000.

Ray was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling, collecting tractors and going to auctions. He especially enjoyed sitting on his back porch watching the hummingbirds.

Ray is survived by a son: Randolph T., husband of Sue (Sexton) Gehman of Ulysses; two daughters-in-law: Patrice (Stick) Gehman of Stevens, Susan (Leisey) Gehman of Mount Pleasant Mills; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two brothers: Clair R., husband of Carol (Ranck) Gehman of Leola; Darrel G., husband of Betty (Rodgers) Gehman of Lititz.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Leonard R. and Roger D. Gehman; two sisters; and two brothers.

Services were held Jan 29 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Timothy Craven officiating. Interment took place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
