Richard E. ‘Rick’ Reider, 63, Schoeneck Quarry superintendent, avid NASCAR fan, Harley enthusiast

Richard E. “Rick” Reider, 63, of Wernersville passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at his residence.

He was born in Ephrata to Gloria Reider of Lebanon, and the late Russell Reider, and was the husband of Judith (Parsons) Reider, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage.

Rick was a former member of ABATE Motorcycle Club. He was an avid Harley rider, a NASCAR fan of both Dale Sr. and Dale Jr. Earnhardt, and he enjoyed fishing.

Rick was a graduate of Cocalico High School. He worked as the superintendent of the Schoeneck Quarry for 28 years, and was a driver for Ewell Trucking prior to retirement. After he retired, he did part-time mowing for the Ephrata Rec Center.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his stepmother: Grace Reider of Denver; three stepdaughters: Cynthia Durante of Emmaus; Debra Fry of Reading; and Sarah Fichthorn, wife of Michael Riegel of Reading; 10 grandchildren: Stephanie, Shane, Kyle, Tyler, and Joshua Durante; Chad, Tara, and Katie Fry; Arielle and Brianna Riegel; five siblings: Debra A., wife of William Sweigart of Stevens; Robert, husband of Marjorie Reider of Denver; Denise, wife of Rick Dry of Lebanon; Rodney Reider of Denver; Scott, husband of Kim Reider of Denver; two stepbrothers: Rick L., husband of Julie Carpenter of Denver; and Randy L. Carpenter of Denver.

Services were held May 31 at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Timothy Craven officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
