Robert G. Andes, 68, of Ephrata, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Lancaster General Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born in Lancaster to the late Robert and Dorothy (Eichelberger) Andes, and was the husband of Sandra (Ream) Andes.

He was a member of the Akron Grace Evangelical Congregational Church and was a Sunday School teacher at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Akron, in earlier years. A Conestoga Valley High School graduate, Class of 1965, he also graduated from the McCann’s Business School in Reading with a degree in accounting. Robert was a former Boy Scout leader of Pack No. 57 of Akron. He was an avid Philly sports fan (hockey, football and baseball included), NASCAR fan, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Robert worked for Andes Greenhouses of Diamond Station for many years as a manager and later was a manager at Pizza Hut in New Holland until he retired in 2013.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two sons: Marc, husband of Caryn (Burkholder) Andes, of Akron; Brent M., husband of Krista (Hufford) Andes, of Ephrata; daughter: Kelly, wife of Christopher Bowers, of Lititz; five grandchildren: Luke Andes, Marshall Bowers, Brynn Bowers, Kamryn Andes, and Hunter Bowers; three sisters: Linda, wife of Rick Brackbill, of Willow Street; Brenda L., wife of Nelson B. Ressler, of Ephrata; Barbara E., wife of Rick Ulsh, of Denver.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at 7 p.m., at the Grace EC Church, Akron, with Pastors Leslie Cool and Steve Holubec officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
