Roger P. Sweigart Sr., 79, Ephrata, cooked at Shady Maple, ran Sweigart Steak Shop

Roger P. Sweigart Sr., 79, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Lancaster to the late Clarence and Anna (Fink) Sweigart and was the husband of Sylvia F. (Moore) Sweigart with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Roger was a member of the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren. He worked in the food industry his whole life. He had been the owner/operator of Sweigart Steak Shop & Restaurant and later was a cook at Shady Maple Smorgasbord.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Roger Jr., husband of Cindy (Pauken) Sweigart of Maumee, Ohio; a daughter: Julie Lynn Campbel of Dover, Del.; 4 grandchildren; and a brother: Ronald Sweigart.

Services were held Oct. 31 at Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, Lititz, with Pastors Wilbur Rohrer and Paul Brubaker officiating. Interment was private in the Bergstrasse Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roger’s memory may be made to the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren Mission Fund, 351 Middle Creek Church Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
