Russell E. ‘Russ’ Baker, 71, self-employed painter, enjoyed building model cars, Tony Stewart fan

Russell E. “Russ” Baker, 71, of Ephrata, passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at home.

He was born in Johnstown and was the husband of Ruth A. (Wolf) Baker.

Russ was a self-employed painter. He attended Johnstown High School. Russ enjoyed fishing, building model cars, and collecting scrap metal. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Tony Stewart.

In addition to his wife, Russ is survived by two sons: Rusty Bair of Missouri, and George Bair; a daughter: Mary Baker of Denver; a stepdaughter: Christine, wife of James Bloom of Middletown; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, followed by funeral services at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dave Parsons officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
