Russell Elwood Sweigart, 89, plasterer, Carpenter Technology retiree, enjoyed gardening, farming

Russell Elwood Sweigart, 89, of Denver, passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at home.

He was born in East Cocalico Township to the late Paul G. and Helen (Sensenig) Sweigart.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church in Reamstown, and enjoyed gardening and farming. Russell worked as a plasterer prior to retiring from Carpenter Technology in Reading.

Russell is survived by a son: Larry, husband of Ida Mae (Rudy) Sweigart of Denver; a daughter: Carol, wife of Leon Leslie Fasnacht of Stevens; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings: Leon Sweigart of South Dakota; Ruth Ann Waring, Janet Taylor, and Donald Sweigart, all of Melbourne, Fla.

He was preceded in death by first wife: Geraldine (Labe) Sweigart in 1991; second wife: Anna Mary (McElhenny) Sweigart in 2012; a brother: Chester Sweigart; and an infant brother.

Services were held Jan. 27 at St. Paul’s EC Church, Reamstown, with The Reverend Kirk Marks presiding. Interment took take place in the Swamp Cemetery.
