Ruth W. Redcay, 90, Ephrata, worked at Strauss Slip Factory, attended Bethany UCC

Ruth W. Redcay, 90, of Ephrata, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Ephrata Manor.

Ruth’s husband, the late Rufus W. Redcay, passed away Dec. 5, 2008. Born in Ephrata Township, Ruth was a daughter of the late Frank A. and Bertha (Weinhold) Wise.

Ruth was a lifetime resident of Lancaster County and worked at the former Strauss Slip Factory in Brownstown. Ruth was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Ephrata, where she taught Sunday school and was member of the Bethany Aid Society and the Bethany Sewing Group for 26 years.

Surviving is one son: Vernon “Sunny” Redcay of Ephrata; a grandson: Jeremy Carvell, husband of Jennifer, of Ephrata; two great-grandchildren: Justin and Jordan Carvell; three sisters: Rose Marie, wife of Carman Peters, of Ephrata; Shirley Ann, wife of Sylvan Gehman of Ephrata; and Betty Jane, wife of David Martin of Red Run; and two brothers: Luke W. Wise, husband of Collette, of Ephrata; and Martin W. Wise, husband of Judy, of Akron,

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter: Patsy “Pat” Carvell; sisters: Lavern and June; and brothers: Vernon, Edwin, Paul, and Leroy.

Funeral services will be held at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, on Monday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William LaSalle officiating. Friends will be received at Gravenor’s from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, and one hour prior to the funeral. Place of interment will be Memory Gardens, East Cocalico Township.
