Sara J. Weaver, 87, Ephrata, seamstress, ran Black Well Hotel in Tioga County

Sara J. Weaver, 87, of Ephrata, passed away at Ephrata Community Hospital, Sunday, July 12, 2015.

She was born in Ephrata, daughter of the late Amos and Geneva (Rupp) Rutt. Her first husband, the late Clarence Etter, passed away June 1, 1963, and her second husband, the late Daniel Weaver Jr., passed away Oct. 20, 2006.

Sara is survived by one sister: Charlotte, wife of Robert Bellman, of Reading; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Sara was preceded in death by her step-mother: Mary Sweigart Rutt; three sisters: Elizabeth Rutt, Nancy Rutt, and Anna Mary Weidman; and three brothers: Clarence Rutt, Edwin Rutt, and Amos Rutt Jr.

Sara was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in New Holland. She and her husband Daniel owned and operated the Black Well Hotel in Tioga County from 1973 to 1981. She also worked as a seamstress for local garment companies.

Services are private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata.
