Sterling L. Fasnacht, 72, Wernersville, worked at Weaver Industries, prolific coach

Sterling L. Fasnacht, 72, of Wernersville, passed away Nov. 1, 2014, in Reading Hospital.

Born in Schoeneck, Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Richard and Salinda (Getz) Fasnacht. He was the husband of Mary M. (Holdeman) Fasnacht.

He was a graduate of Cocalico High School. Sterling was a member of the 1958 undefeated Cocalico football team, founder of the Cocalico Midget Football Association, and coached women’s softball team at Zinn’s Park, which won a state championship in 1990 that took them to the Nationals in Kingman, Ariz., and coached various youth, high school, college and recreation league teams. He was employed by Weaver Industries, Denver as a machine shop estimator.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Kelly L., husband of Sharon Fasnacht, Lititz; Barry F. Auge, Jr., Charleston, S.C.; Brian K., husband of Vera Auge, Boise, Idaho; Brent M., husband of Karen Auge, Sinking Spring; Stacy A., wife of Douglas Shober, Stevens; and Kim D. Auge, partner of Cindy Mullen, Hampton, Ga. Sterling is also survived by his sister: Elsie Towers, Ephrata; and eight grandchildren: Nate, Everett, Tyler, Samantha, Stephanie, Mitchell, Megan and Jordyn.

He was predeceased by his grandson: Joshua.

Services were held Nov 4. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery.
