Thelma J. Hagy, 95, Ephrata, owned Reamstown Atlantic Station, enjoyed puzzles

Thelma J. Hagy, 95, formerly of Lititz, was called home July 3, 2015, in her Ephrata residence.

Born in Lancaster, she was one of five daughters of the late Walter and Melinda (Stoltzfus) Wenger. Her husband, Floyd S. Hagy, died March 5, 1996.

Thelma worked with her husband to build, own and operate the former Reamstown Atlantic Station. In 1951 they moved to Lititz and established Hagy’s Western Auto, which they operated 23 years. Thelma was also a real estate agent with Penn Realty and Geo. Wolf Associates, a teacher’s aide at Owl Hill learning center, and an assistant director of Lititz Senior Center. A true woman of faith, she and her husband helped found Middle River Baptist Church, Baltimore, Md. A member of Grace Brethren Church, Lititz, she had been a long-time member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Lititz, where she sang in the choir. She belonged to Toastmasters International and was an accomplished speaker. An avid reader, she also enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing computer games, and loved friendly competition of board games. Thelma cherished her family and supported them in their adventures.

Surviving are daughters: Christine (John D.) Sheppard, Ephrata; and Connie (Alan) Foster, Rocky Mount, Va.; sons: W. Thomas (Deb Griffin) Hagy, Manheim; and Andrew J. Hagy, Leola; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Ruthe Cody, Elizabethtown.

A foster son, Raymond Alvarez, also predeceased her.

Join the family for a memorial celebration of Thelma’s life on July 18, at 10:30 a.m. from Grace Brethren Church, 501 Lincoln Ave., Lititz.

Rather than flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
