Thelma M. Shenk, 82, formerly of Ephrata, Turkey Hill worker, enjoyed bingo, Phils fan

Thelma M. Shenk, 82, formerly of Ephrata, and wife of the late Emery H. Shenk, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Golden Living of Lancaster.

Thelma was born in Narvon on June 25, 1933 to the late Lorenzo C. Fryberger and the late Esther F. (Smith) Fryberger.

She was a member of the East Cocalico Church of the Brethren. She worked for many years as a cashier for Turkey Hill stores in Ephrata and Akron. She was a loyal Philadelphia Phillies fan and loved playing bingo.

Surviving are four children: daughter Vicki Lynn, wife of David Marks, of Peoria, Ill.; son Rickie Lee Shenk, husband of Bonnie Wise, of Leola; daughter Debra Jean, companion of John Darling, of Waukesha, Wis; daughter Kim L., wife of Keith Hertzog, of Hopeland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by five siblings: Lorenzo Fryberger, husband of Patricia Blair, of Akron; William Fryberger, husband of Norma High, of New Holland; Jean Fryberger of Lancaster; Doris Fryberger, wife of Walter Long, of Stevens; and Dolores Fryberger, wife of the late Walter Lausch, of Stevens.

She was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers: Ruth, wife of the late Robert Baumgardner; Florence, wife of the late Caldwell Englerth; Ephraim E.; John S.; Harry C., husband of Rebecca White; and Robert S., husband of Ilene B.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
