Vivian Y. Crowther, 83, of Ephrata, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Ephrata to the late Elmer and Luella (Ruth) Fasnacht and was the wife of Theodore (Ted) M. Crowther with whom she shared 66 years of marriage this past March 1.

Vivian was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren, where she served on the kitchen committee for several years. She was a graduate of Ephrata High School. During her working years, she worked in the cafeteria at the Ephrata High School, Zinn’s Superthrift and later retired from F.W. Woolworth Company, Mid Atlantic Distribution Center, Denver. Vivian enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, loved cooking and baking for which she received numerous awards at the Ephrata Fair over the years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially at the holidays. Her friends and family were very important to her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter: Donna Y., wife of Craig Rockey of Gettysburg; a son: Timothy Crowther of Ephrata; five grandchildren: Eric, husband of Colleen (Flannigan) Rockey; Christopher (Chip) Rockey; Nicholas, husband of Sarah (Coiner) Crowther; Ryan S. Crowther and Blake K. Crowther; four great-grandchildren: Skylar and Tucker Rockey and Lydia and Phinehas Crowther and a brother: Ronald, husband of Betty (Ludwig) Fasnacht of Ephrata.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Jeff Crowther; a daughter-in-law: Julia A. (Wrench) Crowther and a brother: C. Eugene Fasnacht.

A funeral was held Nov. 30 at the Ephrata Church of the Brethren, Ephrata, with Pastor Rob Eshelman officiating. Interment took place in the Middle Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Vivian’s memory may be made to the Ephrata Public Library, 550 South Reading Road, Ephrata, PA 17522, specify to the Julia A. Crowther Children’s Book Fund.
