Wayne E. ‘Jake’ Inners, 78, Majestic Midways founder, USAF vet, Governor’s Amusement Rides Safety Board member

Wayne E. “Jake” Inners, 78, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at his residence.

He was the loving husband of Viva E. (Johnson) Inners, with whom he celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on May 26.

Jake was born in York, July 30, 1938, son of the late Francis Grover Cleveland and Mazie E. (Jacobs) Inners.

As a young man, Jake worked for the family business, Inners Amusements, then served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1964. He returned to the family business and also worked at the phone company. In 1974 he established Majestic Midways.

He was a member of Christ Community Church, Camp Hill. Additional memberships include, Pennsylvania State Showman’s Association, Maryland State Showman’s Association, Jersey Amusements Association, Outdoor Amusements Association, and the National Association of Amusement Rides Safety Officials. Jake sat on the Governor’s Amusement Rides Safety Board for many years, retiring a few short months ago.

In additional to his wife, he is survived by two children: Bambi L. Bury and her husband Paul of Lancaster; and Scott W. Inners and his wife, Moninne of York; five grandchildren: Autumn, Brandy, Matthew, Michael, and Jacob; one great-grandson; Braden; a sister, Patricia E. Doll of York; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Dec. 19 at Grace Fellowship Church, 1405 Seven Valleys Road, York, with John Shuey of Kingdom Quest Ministries officiating. Burial will be private in Mt. Rose Cemetery.
