Shoe drive continues through Nov. 30

By on November 5, 2014

Yes, we all have them. Shoes are stashed in every noon and cranny of our houses — the hall closet, the garage, and under the kids’ beds. Here’s a chance to get rid of some of them.

Through Nov. 30, new and gently-worn shoes are being accepted as donations at two locations in Ephrata:

  • Ephrata Church of the Nazarene – 110 Durlach Road, Ephrata. Drop off shoes weekdays at the church office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. until noon.
  • Friendly Mini Mart –  25 E. Main St., Ephrata (only on Friday, Nov. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.)

Shoes collected will benefit micro-enterprises in countries like Haiti, Uganda and India who repurpose and sell shoes as a business. Funds will also support the renovation of the Crystal Christian Child Care Center in Lebanon.

For more information, call Ephrata Church of the Nazarene at 733-2000.
