Leroy and Romaine (Burkholder) Stauffer, of Bernville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 15.

They were married July 15, 1967, at Bernville Mennonite Church. The ceremony was officiated by Bishop Isaac Sensenig of Bernville Church and Minister Aaron Sensenig of Texter Mountain Mennonite Church

Leroy was born in New Holland to Phares and Sarah Stauffer. They moved to Berks County in approximately 1955. He was employed by Modern Concrete of Bethel until 1973, and employed by Shank Door Company of Myerstown for the past 44 years.

Romaine is the daughter of Lester and Betty Burkholder, formerly of Meadow Valley Road, Ephrata. She was employed by Walter W. Moyer before becoming a home keeper. She is also author of numerous books, which began by writing Sunday school material for CLP (Christian Light Publications).

Leroy follows the Stauffer tradition of mechanics in two-cylinder John Deeres and built his own miniature version entirely from scratch. Romaine enjoys genealogy and is well versed in family history. They are charter members of Fair Haven Mennonite Church of Myerstown.

They are the parents of Daryl (Velma) Stauffer of Akron; Dale (Tawnya) Stauffer of Hopeland; Cheryl (Richard) Miller of Quaker City, Ohio; Steve Stauffer (deceased); Benjamin (stillborn); Jay (Marilyn) Martin of Ephrata; Gene (Amy) Stauffer of Wolmelsdorf; and Gerald (Kelly) Stauffer of Shoemakersville. They have 18 grandchildren and are anticipating their first great-grandchild.

They are celebrating with a hot air balloon ride and and an outdoor chicken barbecue, attended by friends and family.
