Cocalico swimmers compete at Dallastown Invitational
The Cocalico High School swim team competed in the Dallastown Invitational Meet held Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Dallastown High School.
The Cocalico boys finished third in the team standings with 57 points while the girls placed fourth (42).
Host Dallastown placed first in both the boys and girls meet. The boys’ standings were as follows: Dallastown 113; York Suburban 67; Cocalico 57; Cedar Crest 41; Red Land 19; and Cedar Cliff 11. The girls’ standings included: Dallastown 125; York Suburban 67; Cedar Crest 54; Cocalico 42; Cedar Cliff 10; and Red Land 9.
In boys’ action for Cocalico, Michael White led the way with a pair of individual wins. He took first place in the 200 free (1:53.19) and also swam to victory in the 100 free (50.01).
Hunter Keck also was victorious in the 100 breast with a winning time of 1:04.72. He also placed second in the 200 IM (2:11.21).
Cocalico added a pair of second-place finishes in both the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
On the girls’ side, senior Morgan Haines was a double winner to pace the Lady Eagles.
In the 200 free, Haines and teammate Elise Westhafer finished one-two as the former touched the wall first with a winning time of 2:03.16. Westhafer was six-plus seconds back with a time of 2:09.84.
Haines’ other win came in the 100 free as she sprinted to a time of 57.01.
Westhafer claimed Cocalico’s final victory on the day, winning the 500 free in a time of 5:39.78.
Up next, Cocalico returns to L-L League dual meet action Thursday at the Ephrata Rec Center, beginning at 4 p.m. Cocalico will also be in action next Tuesday on the road in non-league action at Muhlenberg (4 p.m.).
As for Ephrata, the Mounts returned to L-L action Tuesday night at the Lititz Rec Center where they faced Manheim Central. Results from that meet were not available as of press time.
Up next, Ephrata will host Lancaster Catholic next Tuesday at the Ephrata Rec, beginning at 4 p.m.
