The Cocalico swim team earned local bragging rights Tuesday at Ephrata Rec Center Pool, cruising to a boys/girls sweep over host Ephrata.

In girls action, Morgan Haines and Sophie Guthridge both won four events to pace the Lady Eagles to a 105-65 victory over Ephrata. On the boys’ side, Cocalico cruised to a 109-54 decision behind four wins from Eric Guthridge.

The Cocalico girls took all but two events on the day. Haines earned individual event wins in the 200 free (2:01.09) and 100 breast (1:13.26), and was part of the victorious 200 medley (1:56.00) and 200 free (1:47.34) relays from Cocalico. Sophie Guthridge claimed both the 200 IM (2:17.50) and 100 fly (1:01.16) races and was on the two winning relays.

In addition to those two, Sam Marino and Lydia Bearinger were triple winners for Cocalico.

Marino captured the 100 free (56.27) and 100 back (1:00.94) while anchoring the 200 medley relay. And Bearinger won the 50 free 25.53 and was part of both relays wins.

Ephrata was paced by Caitlin Ream, who was a double winner on the afternoon. Ream captured the 500 free in a time of 5:51.20, and swam anchor on the victorious 400 free relay which took first in a time of 4:04.34.

She was joined on the relay by Maya Chedraoui, Makenzie Colton and Sydney Dundon.

On the boys’ side, Cocalico’s Eric Guthridge earned individual wins in both the 200 IM (2:15.06) and 100 fly (1:00.00). He was also part of the winning 200 medley (1:47.29) and 400 free (3:39.88) relays from Cocalico.

Hunter Keck was a triple winner as well for the Eagles, taking home the 100 breast (1:07.00) individually while also taking part in the winning 200 medley and 200 free (1:37.93) relays.

Double winners from Cocalico included: Michael White, 100 back (1:03.78) and 400 free relay; Brady Martin, 200 medley and 200 free relays; Colin Higinbotham, 200 free and 400 free relays; and Randall Moser, 200 free and 400 free relays.

Lucas Ilgenfritz added an individual victory in the 50 free (24.03) for Cocalico.

Ephrata, meanwhile, collected three wins on the day, led by double winner Darren Schlemm. He earned individual victories in both the 200 free (1:56.85) and 100 free (52.97). Lucas Emmerling was a winner in the 500 free (5:18.24).

In addition to Tuesday’s dual meet, Cocalico was impressive in the Panther Classic held at Central York this past Saturday.

In girls’ action, the Lady Eagles took first places in all but three events to roll to the team title with a score of 268. Sam Marino, Morgan Haines and Sidney Evans led the way for Cocalico, winning two events each while also combining with Sophie Guthridge for a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:52.54).

Marino staked claim to the 200 free (1:57.69) and 100 back (1:00.02) titles, Haines was a winner in both the 50 free (25.32) and 100 free (55.18), and Evans took home wins in both the 200 IM (2:13.29) and 500 free (5:13.28). Evans’ time in the 200 IM was a meet record.

Guthridge added the other Cocalico win on the day, swimming to victory in the 100 fly in a time of 1:00.61.

The Cocalico boys also turned in a fine showing, finishing fourth overall with a score of 199.
