Ephrata senior Kelly Liebl, the defending 100 meter league champion and silver medalist in the 200 and long jump, will be held out of this weekend’s L-L League Meet, Ephrata Coach John Keller confirmed Tuesday.
Liebl, who injured her hamstring a few weeks ago, re-tweaked it Monday while running the 100 in the Lady Mounts’ dual meet with Cocalico. Ironically, Liebl broke the school record with a time of 11.9 during that race.
“The decision was made not to run Kelly at the League Meet,” Keller said in an email Tuesday. “I just do not want to run the risk of injuring her more at this time. We are still keeping an open mind about Districts.”
A year ago, Liebl followed up her L-L Meet with a District gold in the 100, and later earned an eighth-place finish at States in that event.
