Tidal Waves close out another successful summer swim season

The Ephrata Rec Center Tidal Waves concluded another successful summer season this past week as they participated in the Lancaster Summer Swim League Championship meet held at New Holland.
The Tidal Waves had 51 swimmers qualify for the championship meet and placed eighth out of 22 teams overall.
The Tidal Waves also had several swimmers place in the top three at League Championships:
Joey Myer (8-and-under boys)- first in the 25 freestyle, first in the 25 backstroke, first in the 25 butterfly, and second in the free style relay. Myer set New Holland pool records in the 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke, and 25 butterfly.
Cole Martzall (8-and-under boys)- second in the freestyle relay, second in the medley relay.
Gannon McClain (8-and-under boys)- second in the freestyle relay, 2nd in the medley relay.
Graham Mendenhall (8-and-under boys)- second in the freestyle relay, second in the medley relay.
Jack Martin (8-and-under boys)- second in the medley relay.
Troy Chedraoui (10-and-under boys)- first in the 25 breaststroke.
Cole Freeman (10-and-under boys)- second in the 25 freestyle, second in the 25 backstroke.
Josephine Leonard (10-and-under girls)- third in the 25 backstroke.
In addition to a successful league championship meet, the Tidal Waves saw numerous outdoor team records fall this season:
Cole Freeman set the new team record mark in the 10-and-under boys 25 meter backstroke at 17.20. Cole broke Steve Grater’s 1978 team record of 17.70.
Joey Myer set the new team record mark in the 8-and-under boys 25 meter freestyle event at 15.18, 25 meter backstroke at 18.78, and the 25 meter butterfly at 16.69.
Cole Freeman, Troy Chedraoui, Chad Jones and Joey Myer also teamed up to break a 37-year-old 10-and-under freestyle relay record (held by S. Grater, M. Weist, S. Foster, and D. Sulkes). Cole, Troy, Chad, and Joey set the new mark at 1:01.43, breaking the previous record of 1:02.40.
