Citizens may bring expired and unused drugs to East Cocalico Township Police Station, 100 Hill Road, on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for safe disposal.

Prescription, controlled and non-controlled drugs, as well as over-the-counter expired medicines are accepted as well as liquids and creams in their containers.

No sharpies and syringes can be donated due to potential hazards of blood-borne pathogens.

The program is absolutely anonymous. No questions or requests for identification will be made by any law enforcement personnel.
The donation box must be manned by a law enforcement officer at all times. When the day’s program is completed, the box is sealed and delivered to a designated DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) check-point.
This program is nation-wide and provides an opportunity for the community and law enforcement to work together for a safe collection and destruction of drugs.
This practice also protects the water table and soil quality.
