David G. Unangst, 61, Ephrata, Charlie Shirk driver, Boy Scout leader, loved camping

David G. “Dave” Unangst, 61, of Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at his home.

He was born in Lancaster to the late Elmer and Arlene (Houck) Unangst; and was the husband of Earla J. (Styer) Unangst, with whom he would have shared 44 years of marriage on Nov. 20.

Dave worked as a truck driver for Charlie Shirk Trucking, in Terre Hill, for more than 20 years. A Boy Scout leader for many years, he enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by a son: David Jr., husband of Misty (Schall) Unangst of Ephrata; a daughter: Stacey, wife of Scott Walter, of New Holland; nine grandchildren: Katelyn and Billy Trimble, New Holland; Alexis Unangst; Alexis and Blake Hawthorn; Makenzie, Amethyst, Trenton, and Spencer, all of Ephrata; and three sisters: Leta, wife of Paul Ebersole; Peg, wife of Allan Weber; and Helen Unangst, companion of Rich Firestone; all of Ephrata.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Ray “Pete” Unangst; and granddaughter: Marrisa Walter.

Services were held Oct. 19 at Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata, with Pastor Wes Dudley officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
