Esther M. Martin, 83, antique shop owner
Esther Mae (Wise) Martin, 83, of Annville, formerly of Campbelltown, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Countryside Christian Community, Annville.
She was born in East Earl to the late Jacob and Luella (Griffith) Wise and was the wife of the late Rev. J. Paul Martin who passed away in 2011.
Esther was a member of the Palmyra United Zion Church. A pastor’s wife, she enjoyed antiquing and collecting and ran an antique shop from her residence for several years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting Florida in the winter months.
Esther is survived by three sons: Eugene, husband of Esther (Weaver) Martin of Ephrata; Richard, husband of Marlene (Esch) Martin of Lebanon; Troy, husband of Tana (Hauer) Martin of Lebanon; two daughters: Betty, wife of Clifford Martin of Ephrata; Wanda, wife of Lee Bachman of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother: Jacob Jr., husband of Arlene Wise of Ephrata and one sister: Dorothy Sauder of Ephrata.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Jeanette Martin, who passed away in October 2003 and two and sisters: Beatrice Buckwalter and Betty Boyer.
A viewing was held Aug. 24 at the Ephrata United Zion Church, Ephrata, followed by her funeral service with pastors Jay Showalter and Richard Martin officiating. Interment took place in the Hahnstown United Zion Cemetery.
