Mighty Mountaineer 5K to raise funds to benefit District Students
The Ephrata Area Education Foundation will host the Mighty Mountaineer 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 22, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Ephrata Intermediate/Middle School.
The grass course with gently rolling hills is great for casual runners and walkers as well as the fiercely competitive. Those who register by Friday, August 31 are guaranteed a T-shirt.
Proceeds from the event will help the Foundation continue to provide financial support to the District for many projects that benefit students, such as Venture Grants, "Learning is Fun" kits for District 3- and 4-year-olds, and alternative education.
Registration brochures are available on the Foundation website at ephrataeducation.org or can be picked up at any District buildings.
"Participating in this 5K event is a great way for District families and community members to support special projects funded by the Ephrata Area Education Foundation. All proceeds will benefit District students who participate in the many innovative educational initiatives supported by the Foundation," said Dr. Brian Troop, Assistant Superintendent and a member of the 5K planning committee.
"The planning committee is hoping this will be the first of many 5Ks that are successful fundraisers for the Foundation," added Tam Fasnacht, a Foundation Board member and member of the 5K planning committee.
Since its inception in 2004, the Ephrata Area Education Foundation has supported the Ephrata Area School District by providing nearly $180,000 in funding for programs that benefit District students. Alumni, community members, and businesses can support the Foundation with taxdeductible donations.
Donations can be mailed to the Ephrata Area Education Foundation, 803 Oak Blvd., Ephrata, PA 17522. Please contact Stephanie Gingrich at (717) 721-1589 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
